Hotel Bed Bugs Infestation ripple effect turned Tidal Wave-HOW CAN I LESSEN MY CHANCES OF GETTING BED BUGS AGAIN?

A bed bug bite affects each person differently. Bite responses can range from an absence of any physical signs of the bite, to a small bite mark, to a serious allergic reaction. Bed bugs are not considered to be dangerous; however, an allergic reaction to several bites may need medical attention.
What are the signs and symptoms of a bed bug infestation?
One of the easiest ways to identify a bed bug infestation is by the tell-tale bite marks on the face, neck, arms, hands, or any other body parts while sleeping. However, these bite marks may take as long as 14 days to develop in some people so it is important to look for other clues when determining if bed bugs have infested an area. These signs include:

the bed bugs’ exoskeletons after molting,
bed bugs in the fold of mattresses and sheets,
rusty–colored blood spots due to their blood-filled fecal material that they excrete on the mattress or nearby furniture, and
a sweet musty odor.

Bed Bugs are tough to control. They are difficult to see, they are active at night when humans are sleeping, and a female lays eggs at 2 to 3 per day and may lay 200 to 300 eggs in a lifetime. They can go without food (blood) for up to 140 days.

Bed bugs hide in cracks and small places and are difficult to see, especially in the early molting stages and the eggs are very small and almost invisible to the naked eye. Bed bugs live in clusters, like roaches. They generally will travel 20 or more feet from their nesting area if the host moves to another location. They have been known to move downstairs if the host goes from bedroom to living room. They prefer to feed at night, but will feed during the day if the host is inactive. You may need a flashlight to locate the bed bugs. They will hide in bedding, bed frames, covers, couches and chairs, window and door moldings, behind wall paper and pictures, cracks in flooring, under carpet along walls, wall voids such as light sockets and outlets, luggage and backpacks and clothing. Without your help and cooperation, the problem cannot be resolved. Without your cooperation, the problem will spread to neighboring units. – Get Rid Of Clutters: Bed bugs love small spaces, clutters, cracks and crevices. These are ideal places where they will hide. Getting rid of possible hiding spots can help rid of or prevent infestations.

– Sleep at home: One of the major contributing factors to the rapid spread of bed bugs across the world is through frequent travelers. As people travel and sleep in different hotels, homes, condos, inns, apartments, etc…they are prone to carrying bed bugs back to their homes through clothes, luggage, and etc.

Preventing Bed Bugs While Traveling:

Avoid bringing your laundry in a cloth bag unless you plan to wash and dry the bag. Use light-coloured plastic baskets that are easy to inspect when they are empty.
Do not set your laundry basket on the floor, or near the seating area or trash cans. Place your basket on top of the washer and check it thoroughly before putting clean laundry back into it.
Check any chairs before you sit down.
Check the table used for folding laundry before putting your clean laundry on it, or fold your clean laundry at home
Before bringing luggage into your home, place it on a hard surface away from any places bedbugs could crawl to and hide, and check it carefully.
Unpack your clothing and check personal items (like hairbrush and cosmetic case).
Wash all clothing and fabric items in hot water, regardless of whether you wore them or not.
Dry non-washable items in the clothes dryer on the highest heat for 30 minutes.
Vacuum your luggage. Throw out the vacuum bag in a sealed garbage bag right away. Wash any vacuum cleaner brush or nozzle attachments you used in hot water with detergent. For a bagless vacuum cleaner, empty the dust collector into a garbage bag, throw out the bag immediately, and also wash the dust collector in hot water with detergent.

It is highly recommended by many professional pest control operators to carry along luggage sprays when traveling.
